Kervin Frey

Founder & CEO

Kervin leads this organization with 10 years of sales, marketing and management experience. His entrepreneurial zeal and passion for serving rural business communities has led to the growth of this brand. Having a background of living in the rural farming community, retail & sales management and online e-commerce international business as well as education through several business courses at Conestoga College, Kervin is well equipped to lead the organization to serve rural business communities.

Kervin and his wife Kendra live in Alma, ON and enjoy travelling, global missions and quality time with family & friends.

Kendra Frey

Administrative Assistant

Kendra joined Horizon Quest Inc in 2018 through marriage and brings many talents to the brand. Kendra has 5 years school teaching experience as well as over 4 years serving as a missionary in Liberia, Africa. Kendra was born and raised in Pennsylvania and brings a valuable connection to our Lancaster county division’s clients and community.

Kendra’s writing skills, mastery of the English language, previous administrative experience and willingness to help around the office are a valuable part of our team as well as her emotional support for her husband and the team at large.

Chief Financial Officer

Gladys Bowman CPA, CGA

Chief Financial Officer

Gladys has worked in accounting and finance for the last 10+ years for small to mid-size companies. She has recently graduated from Laurentian University with her Bachelor of Commerce degree and has a CPA designation. She is overseeing all the financial aspects of Horizon Quest which include invoicing, payroll, payables, and receivables.

HR Director

Willard Bauman

HR Director

Willard Bauman is 68 years old and has been married to his wife Marilyn for 45 years. They have 3 children who are living independently.
1984-2015 – Co-owner and manager of a Bakery waste recycling facility. Processed over 50,000 tonnes of bakery waste products and converted into an animal feed product thereby diverting waste from the land fill. Presently he is enjoying spending more time with his wife and family, golfing, mentoring and volunteering in a church and various charitable organizations.

Jules Noordhoek BTech

Design & Web Manager

Jules has been a Project Manager in the communications industry for 16+ years. Starting in labour law publishing, through to advertising, financial communications, non-profit, and now managing the Design and Web teams at Horizon Quest, she loves to rise to new challenges. Jules uses her experience to keep projects organized, on time and on budget. Coming from a one-stoplight town to a downtown metropolis, she is now comfortably settled in the community-focused, and friendly “Royal City.”

Creative Director

Hanniel Ghezzi

Creative Director

Hanniel is excited to be joining the Horizon Quest team as Creative Director. He brings two decades of experience working for leading printing and manufacturing firms in the GTA since graduating from Ryerson’s Graphic Communications Management program. His areas of expertise include project management, estimating, production, procurement, and customer service. Hanniel grew up in Japan and three Canadian provinces, learning four languages by his eighth birthday. Hanniel and his wife Jannilea are devoted to raising their four children and serving in both adult and children’s ministries in their local church. Hanniel enjoys running and recently completed his first half marathon.

Estelle Whiteman

Business Administrator

Estelle comes to Horizon Quest with an extensive background in customer service and office administration. She is a graduate of Millersville University with a degree in Writing Studies/Print Media Journalism. Estelle currently lives in Lancaster, PA with her husband.

David Chiswell

Bookkeeping Assistant

David joins the team at Horizon Quest with over 25 years experience in the management of retail business. Deciding it was time to make a career change, David attented Conestoga College and obtained his Office Administration Certificate. While working on his Office Admin certificate, David found a passion in bookkeeping and is now working on his Bookkeeping Certificate at Conestoga College. He currently assists Gladys in the financial workings of Horizon Quest.

Dave has over thirty years of sales and marketing experience, including brochure design, website content and design, and marketing campaigns. He can relate to the needs of the small business person, having owned several businesses. Having just moved from Colorado, Dave is enjoying working in “Amish Country” and enjoying the beauty of Lancaster County.

Tricia has been in the advertising industry for over 20 years and uses her sales & marketing expertise to help her clients meet their marketing goals. She enjoys golfing, hiking, reading, gardening, cooking and baking. She also enjoys spending quality time with family and friends.

Lisa brings 25 plus years of corporate and small business advertising, marketing communications and sales expertise to her clients. Helping small businesses to increase their profile in the community is her top priority. She resides in West Grey with her husband and two Portuguese water dogs.

Nate served in the US Navy for 4 years before entering the sales field. He now has over 10 years of experience with sales and customer service. Nate enjoys being outdoors and playing golf or spending time with friends and family.

Marcie Szymanski is a Graphic Designer and Photographer with over 21 years of experience.  Her ultimate goal is to master the new fields of opportunity that has been presented to her with Horizon Quest Inc. Marcie’s biggest achievement would be her 3 beautiful kids and wonderful husband that she loves to spend time with going for walks, playing games, cooking and camping.

With over 10 years of experience helping small business owners in rural and small town communities market their businesses through strategic and creative graphic design, her passion is helping business owners succeed in reaching the people they are in business to serve.

Laura grew up in Elora and worked at Horizon Quest during the summer between studying graphic design and web design at Sheridan College. After graduating she moved to Toronto where she now lives with her husband and works remotely. Whether for print or web, Laura strives to design experiences that continually engage and delight.

Ilir Pllana

Web Developer/Designer

Ilir is a Web Developer/Designer and with some skills in Graphic Design too. He comes from Kosovo where he grew up and lived until he moved to Canada in 2015. He currently lives in Kitchener where he also graduated from Conestoga College with an Advanced Diploma in IT Innovation and Design program. He likes spending time watching sports and playing soccer.

David Ames

Accounting Associate

David is a recent graduate of the University of Guelph where he received a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting. David grew up in Newcastle but currently resides in Guelph, where he has aspirations of obtaining a CPA designation in the future. He has joined the Horizon Quest team as an Accounting Associate where he assists Gladys and David in the financial workings of Horizon Quest.

Joycelyn Showalter

Receptionist

Joycelyn grew up near Drayton and returned to this small town to live after several years abroad. Growing up on a vegetable farm, Joycelyn spent most of her summers outside handling regular daily tasks of Customer Service, Sales and Product Displays.
For over 10 years, Joycelyn has worked with adults within their different abilities and foster kids with challenging behaviours. During this time she also taught school and helped her mother run a small home based business, selling quilts and fabrics. Joycelyn’s involvement in the business covered all aspects, including Marketing, Advertising, Customer Service and Designing Quilts; she enjoyed the challenges of business.
Returning to school, Joycelyn pursued her passion for helping others by completing her Masters. In her spare time, Joycelyn loves to play volleyball, go to concerts, and have coffee or dinner with friends and family.

Through her previous employment with Canada Post, Federal Government and a variety of volunteer positions, Christy has developed exceptional strength in people management, coaching and training. She has successfully led and developed employees to reach optimal productivity while reaching performance expectations. Christy spends many hours hiking the trails around Elora and Fergus with her Husky and camera.

Rick’s background is in working with Customer Service. Through his community involvement Rick understands the North Wellington community very well and is looking forward to working with the existing clients as well as developing new relationships in the local area. Rick resides in the Mount Forest area with his wife and 4 kids!
